Travels Travels Travels

As promised, here is my post about my travels through Italy, Holland, and Belgium with my wonderful mom.

First glimpse of leaning tower from hotel balcony

We started our two week journey in Pisa, Italy. Our hotel was located right next to the leaning tower! We only stayed in Pisa for one night, saw the leaning tower in daylight the next morning, and then strapped on our backpacks to catch the train to our next destination: Lucca.

LUCCA: Only a couple pictures from here, but Lucca was a really cool, walled-in city that dates back to before Christ ever walked the Earth. Pretty awesome!

Here is where my favorite pictures begin! Cinque Terre, made up of 5 small villages along the Mediterranean coast, is one of the most picturesque places I have ever visited. My mom and I stayed in Riomaggiore, which stands for "Major River", and is small fisherman's village. Though there are many tourists hiking in between the villages, all 5 have seemed to maintain their local culture, which I think adds even more to the experience!

So many colors everywhere!

Main street in Riomaggiore

The lemon trees were everywhere, and very tempting...

Vineyards on the hillsides

Visit to Montorosa, the village that has the best beaches. From there we hiked 2 hours to the next village, Vernazze.

Vernazze!

Via dell Amore, the cliff-path that takes you from Riomaggiore to Manarola.

FIRENZE: After Cinque Terre my mom and I made our way to Florence, where we enjoyed a few days visiting the museums, eating gelato, and observing all the many, many, tourists.

Cannolis and Cappuccino of course!

Goodbye Italy, Hello Holland!

Specifically, Amsterdam, the North sea, Keukenhof gardens, and Brussels!

Brussels street performer...I believe he was singing a little Eric Clapton

So there you have it, our trip in pictures. After our journey my mom came back to Marburg, where we had a few more days together to relax, wander through the woods, and simply remember how blessed we are.
